《菊池ヒロ》 GOD. WAIT TILL YOU WATCH THE MOVIES AND SPECIALS
《菊池ヒロ》 AND SEE TSUBASA
《菊池ヒロ》 because tsubasa makes his appearance/cameo on beast of the white knight
《菊池ヒロ》 and then appears in makai senki
にわとり skjfhsakjd that's going to be after the gaiden. /FLAILS AROUND
《菊池ヒロ》 you will totally be blown away
《菊池ヒロ》 esp when you get to makai senki
《菊池ヒロ》 you think the first season was good?
《菊池ヒロ》 WAIT TILL YOU GET TO THE SECOND
にわとり YOU ARE KILLING ME HERE KILLING ME
《菊池ヒロ》 THE WORLD OF THE MAKAI ORDER EXPANDS BY SO MUCH IN MAKAI SENKI
《菊池ヒロ》 plus there are episodes dedicated to amazing things. like rei and juuzou and rei and this girl he used to know
《菊池ヒロ》 and the one where these two parents . . . basically feed a horror and kill people because the horror lets them see their dead son
《菊池ヒロ》 it's all those episodes are basically HEARTWRENCHING
にわとり ....B'AWWW
《菊池ヒロ》 god you remember the ep with the father who tried to kill kouga to make him pay for his daughter who was a horror's death
《菊池ヒロ》 it's like that
《菊池ヒロ》 but worse
にわとり dkjfhaskjhaskd damn this series
《菊池ヒロ》 it's just god. how they HIT THESE ISSUES? like they tackle everything
《菊池ヒロ》 it's rare that a series gets into the other side of the story like with that father
にわとり yeah. it threw me off cause i was wondering why he was human but doing shit like that and they tell you AND IT'S JUST ALFJSLKDJFKDS
《菊池ヒロ》 RIGHT? i just went HOLY FUCK after watching that ep
《菊池ヒロ》 because they were like, earlier, well once a human gets possessed SORRY YOU DIE
《菊池ヒロ》 and then they have an episode like that
にわとり i mean you never really think about the friends or family of people who are controlled by a horror
にわとり and then that episode happens and you start to wonder
《菊池ヒロ》 right?! that's why i love this series
《菊池ヒロ》 because it tackles so many viewpoints
《菊池ヒロ》 like that episode with the horror mermaid? it just focuses on a how a human themself can get twisted and
《菊池ヒロ》 basically help a horror that can't feed on it sown
《菊池ヒロ》 it's not a monster that can jump out and just ATTACK people to eat them
《菊池ヒロ》 nope, it becomes an almost symbiotic relationship
にわとり people need the right push and that's what the horrors are. that pus
にわとり *push
《菊池ヒロ》 YEAP. i mean because horrors are essentially
《菊池ヒロ》 the darkness within people's hearts!
《菊池ヒロ》 like this is why i say this is ADULT toku? because this kind of stuff isn't really addressed in usual toku
《菊池ヒロ》 garo is like an entirely separate world from the toku everyone is used to
《菊池ヒロ》 like it was glossed over in the first season, the relationship between makai knights and priests/priestesses
《菊池ヒロ》 then in the red requiem movie
《菊池ヒロ》 but in makai senki it focuses on the internal struggle within the makai order
《菊池ヒロ》 it's not always sunshin and rainbows, it's about actual people who fight and think negative thoughts
にわとり yup. it goes deeper into shit regular toku does not.
《菊池ヒロ》 YEAP
《菊池ヒロ》 you will see just how in depth it gets when you get to makai senki
にわとり and i think that if a second season was planned or something, i can see why it was glossed over in the first
にわとり like the first is a general setup
《菊池ヒロ》 YEAP
にわとり HERE IS THE WORLD WE'RE SHOWING YOU
にわとり NOW LET'S GO DEEPER
《菊池ヒロ》 like i will say it's honestly really incredible how they portray the entire struggle from both sides, from knights to priests
《菊池ヒロ》 and like. again, the darkness. it shows both the darkness with humans and horrors both
《菊池ヒロ》 like sure the horrors are monsters
《菊池ヒロ》 but goddamn humans can be just as bad
にわとり the last few episodes show that. you really think this is all horrors' fault. nope. let me show it's not.
《菊池ヒロ》 EXACTLY
《菊池ヒロ》
KIBA GAIDEN
《菊池ヒロ》
this is barago's backstory
《菊池ヒロ》
and how he became the way he is
《菊池ヒロ》
DOWNLOAD
《菊池ヒロ》
it's really good
《菊池ヒロ》
it shows how a makai knight can fall to darkness
《菊池ヒロ》
based on the events and things that happen to them
《菊池ヒロ》
the deaths of important people
《菊池ヒロ》
the fear of death itself, too, and how it can change a person, drive them to these acts
《菊池ヒロ》
like they are not the strong saviors! this is not cemented
《菊池ヒロ》
they're also human
《菊池ヒロ》
and they have their own weaknesses
《菊池ヒロ》
esp. considering what they have to do
にわとり
sweet!
にわとり
/goes to download
《菊池ヒロ》
YESSSS
These are plurk convos that explain some aspects of GARO that make it ADULT toku. Some of what's needed to understand it is having watched some of the episodes, but mostly it can be understood. It basically explains why GARO is not typical toku. Toku in general doesn't delve into the issues that GARO does. There's a lot of in-fighting as well as internal struggles, as well as points of view & aspects of people other than the heroes. It touches on humanity's darkness, on the victims, the negative aspects within people & how that can twist them. For instance, the one who was a villain near the end was Barago-- who was moonlighting as Kaoru's therapist. You don't suspect this at all; he's genial & nice & charming as her therapist & then you find out OH SHIT HE'S A MAKAI KNIGHT WHO WENT EVIL & STARTED EATING/CONSUMING HORRORS TO BECOME THE STRONGEST. Even the technical 'Saviors' within the show have their issues; they're human, they have both negative & positive aspects to them. They aren't these cemented heroes that will save the day no matter what & everything will be alright. In toku, deaths are usually glossed over. Yes, people die, but IT'S COOL WE GOT OUR CHEESY FIGHTS & FRIENDSHIP SPEECHES. In GARO, actual deaths are seen & it's: People die, you lose people & they're never coming back, they die & it's sad & it affects loved ones. It hurts. It's real. There's pain. & sometimes you can never come back from that pain or get away from it. Let me expand a bit on some of the episodes that were talked about. There is an episode which focuses on Rei & he goes to a house where there are two parents. This time, it's not the Horror who is really the monster here; the Horror is just a physical aspect of 'darkness'. It doesn't do much except fight & eat. What's focused on are the parents. The two parents basically draw innocent people in, then poison them & feed them to the Horror tree. Why? Because the tree gives them an illusion of their son who died in a war. This is because they want to cling to the memory of their own son-- to the point where they'll kill anyone to make it real. & in the end what happens? They beg Rei to kill them because there's no life for them without their son. & when Rei refuses, because he says all he cuts down are Horrors, the parents commit suicide. They ingest the poison & kill themselves. This is an incredibly dark episode considering all of the things that happen in it. But it's an example of the darkness within people, how desperate they can get when they want/desire something to be real. & how far they'll go to achieve that. It's also about how love can be twisted in a horrible way; that love can be negative in this light. Another episode is the one where there is a Horror mermaid. It's the monster of the show, yes, but it's basically helpless. It stays within a tank that a human keeps for it & all it can do is basically breathe in the water. It can't attack. It can't fend for itself. Instead it draws the human in with illusions & makes the human love it to the point where the human does all the killing & leading victims in. The relationship is symbiotic. The human gets the love & care that he wants from the Horror, the illusion of love. & the Horror gets its meals. The human itself is basically a good for nothing 'geek' who has no life & etc. This twists his mentality & he does everything he can for the love of the Horror because he finds himself unable to connect with 'people'. So it's the human instead that's the monster. Now let's move on to the episode where Kouga fights against a human. His creed is that he doesn't cut humans down. But in this episode the human is the father of a woman who was killed by Kouga. This woman was possessed by a Horror & when you're possessed by a Horror it means you're dead. There's no saving you. The woman herself was a serial killer anyway, which drew the attention of that specific Horror. Again, Horrors are attracted to peoples' darkness-- it depends on their tastes too, but that's what draws them. Anyway, this father blames Kouga for his daughter's death & obtains bullets that will turn humans into Horrors. He shoots 'good for nothing people who are wastes' & makes them into Horrors that fight Kouga. All to avenge his daughter. This expands on the 'victims' of Horrors, on how they cope, on how they deal or can't deal. It's not just sadness for the victims that get eaten, the innocent people. It's sadness for the ones that are lost & unable to be saved. He tries to make Kouga understand his pain without understanding anything-- all he knows is that his daughter is dead. When Kouga refuses to cut him down, he stabs himself with the Horror relic that used to be the Horror that possessed his daughter & it's only then he realizes that Kouga saved his daughter. Because he forces his own body to be possessed by that Horror by stabbing himself with that relic & being possessed by a Horror is an incredibly painful thing. What Kouga did was set his daughter free from that pain. But it's then & only then that Kouga cuts him down because now he's a Horror. & the father thanks him. Again, this is another episode centered around Rei, there's some light aspects to it. Like how Rei first got addicted to sweet things. But then it turns to Misao, a girl Rei knew & saved in the past. This is a big struggle for Rei, but he makes his decision in the end. Because a Horror possesses Misao's mother after Misao tries to commit suicide & her mother saves her from getting hit by a car-- except she gets hit by the car instead & then a Horror takes her over. The Horror plays on Misao's love for her mother & basically makes her its puppet & Misao sees that Horror as her mother. She doesn't think her mother is lost or gone. Rei finds out & Misao begs Rei not to kill her mother, but Rei's already made his decision & does it anyway. She thanks him & then rejects him saying that she'll never be able to forgive him ever & directs all of her hate & loss & despair at him, blaming him & not the Horror. He does this to protect her 'smile'. & it's those kinds of decisions that make him a Makai Knight. In a way, this episode makes Rei out to be the monster because he had to be the one to make the hard decision, he had to be the one who took Misao's mother away from her. It's an incredibly sad episode because it also focuses on how easy it is for Rei, as a Knight, to lose people he cares about because of what he is & the decisions he has to make. Now let's move onto the internal struggle. In toku, it's usually about working together & all that happy stuff. In GARO that is not the case. Yes, there are instances of that happening, when Knights will team up with other Knights & Priests & etc. But in Makai Senki, there's discord within the ranks because Priests are no longer the 'protectors'. Makai knights were born because Priests were unable to destroy Horrors with their abilities. So Makai knights became the 'saviors' instead, with the Priests doing back up. This is reality in the making because it gathers personalities of all types & shows that sometimes they just can't make it work or work together. It turns to the selfish point of view, where there are numerous Priests who think of the fact that it's not them doing the saving-- they don't think about the fact that people need to be saved regardless of who does it. They think, 'me me me'. This is human. This shows that even though both Priests & Knights are heroes, they still have their own v. human issues. The negative parts of their hearts, their beliefs. So an internal mutiny happens due to Sigma, who's fronting this 'revolution.' There are Priests who don't give a fuck, like Rekka, who believes in Makai knights because of Kouga & believes that it doesn't matter who does the saving. But then there are Priests like Shiguto who get blindsided by Sigma's ideals & gets excited at the prospect of being a Priest following those beliefs. They're charmed by this, these Priests, & it's incredible because it's a conglomeration of struggles for all parties. -- i will write more, this is TBC. |
